The Power of Collaborative Healing with Marcy Burns of Body Reset Happy Healthy Chico Podcast By Dr. Shane Smith, DC

Apr 3, 2025

Welcome to another episode of the Happy Healthy Chico podcast—I’m Dr. Shane Smith, and I’m so glad you’re here.

This week, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with someone I admire deeply—Marcy Burns, the heart and hands behind Body Reset here in Chico.

Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

Marcy isn’t just a massage therapist. She’s a healer, a problem-solver, and someone who sees people as whole human beings—mind, body, and soul. With years of experience, a vast knowledge of the body’s interconnected systems, and a true passion for wellness, Marcy helps people who have hit a wall with traditional healthcare find real, lasting relief.

A Personal Healing Journey That Changed Everything

Marcy’s path to healing started at home. Her two children were born with medical challenges and underwent multiple surgeries by the time they were ten.

The emotional and physical toll was heavy—and no one warned her about the long-term effects of repeated anesthesia or the digestive issues that would follow.

In her search for better answers, she discovered colon hydrotherapy.

“What began as a personal health experiment quickly turned into a transformational journey—for me and my kids.”

One of the most powerful stories she shared was when her 7-year-old daughter tried hydrotherapy for the first time—and experienced a massive release of Candida. Her chronic gut and sleep issues? Gone.

That moment changed everything.

Seeing the Body as a Whole

What sets Marcy apart is her ability to see the entire picture.

She doesn’t chase symptoms—she finds the source. As she puts it:
“Pain is never where the problem is.”

If you come in with low back pain, she might start with your shoulders, your knees, or your chest. Her approach blends massage therapy, colon hydrotherapy, postural work, and emotional insight to get real results.

The Problem with Modern Healthcare

Marcy and I agree: modern healthcare is too fragmented.

Patients are passed from one specialist to the next—none of whom speak to each other.

“Depending on which doctor you go to, that’s the problem you’re told you have.”

We’re not criticizing the people—we need great specialists.
But the lack of communication and collaboration between professionals?
That’s a big part of why our system isn’t working.

And it’s why people like Marcy—and providers like our team—are stepping up to offer a collaborative, whole-body approach.

Practitioner vs. Technician

What’s the difference?
  • A technician gives you what you ask for.

  • A practitioner helps you understand what you actually need.

That’s the magic of working with someone like Marcy. If you say, “My back hurts,” she doesn’t just rub your back. She finds why it hurts—and helps fix it at the source so the relief lasts.

That’s what true healing looks like.

Healing Requires Education and Support

We live in an era of too much information—and not enough guidance.

You can Google your symptoms all day, but what do you do with that knowledge?

You need a guide. A coach. A caring, wise human being who will walk with you as you learn how to heal.

That’s what Marcy offers.

Why Collaboration Is the Future of Healthcare

People are demanding more from their healthcare. They’re asking the right questions. They want more than just pills. They want real solutions.

And that’s where collaboration comes in.

In Chico, we’re lucky to have:

  • Great doctors

  • Great therapists

  • Great bodyworkers

  • And amazing healers like Marcy

“No one person can be everything. But together? We’ve got your back.”

Burn Bright Until the End

I always say that life should be like a candle:

You light it, it burns bright from top to bottom, and when it goes out, it goes out. But it never dims. That’s the goal: full brightness—start to finish.

That’s what we’re working toward. That’s the kind of health we believe in.

If you’re feeling unheard, frustrated, or just need a fresh approach, I can’t recommend Marcy enough.

What Keeps Marcy Happy and Healthy in Chico?

At the end of each show, I always ask: “What do you do in Chico to stay happy and healthy?”

Her answer?

“I walk in Bidwell Park and swim in Upper Park—at least five days a week.”

I love that. Chico is filled with natural beauty and wellness resources—it’s a huge part of what makes our town so special.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been told that “this is as good as it gets”—please don’t believe it.

There are people here in Chico who care. Who listen. Who collaborate.
Who will walk beside you on your healing journey.

You deserve to burn bright.

Thanks for joining me on this episode of Happy Healthy Chico.
I’ll see you next time.
