“My other chiropractor didn’t use x-rays, why are you?”
It’s true, the vast majority of chiropractors don’t need x-rays to help their patients get some relief from a little back pain or neck pain. But in certain situations x-rays are a must if the patient is going to get the long-lasting relief they’re looking for.
The situations where x-rays are needed:
- When the symptoms are more complex that just neck or back pain
- When the general type of chiropractic care didn’t work or the results don’t last long
- When the upper neck area is involved
We take x-rays because most of our patients have one, two, or all three of the above scenarios. Many of our patients have complex and chronic health problems that go beyond just neck and back pain. We often see people that have neck or back pain and… other symptoms that indicate problems in their nervous system. Things like frequent headaches, migraines, dizziness or vertigo, numbness or feeling of “pins and needles”, acid reflux and GERD, indigestion, constipation, autoimmune problems, insomnia, or chronic fatigue.
Most of our patients have already tried general chiropractic care and didn’t get the results they were hoping for, but they also know something in the spine is related to their health problems. The spine, the nervous system, and the overall function of the body are related. Sometimes when the general approach doesn’t work you need to work with a specialist that has more training and expertise in a particular area.
The upper neck is a very important, very unique, and very difficult area to work with safely. The bones in the upper neck are highly variable from one person to another, so just using one’s hands to feel for a problem is not accurate enough.
